We took the Hershey Little League All-Stars out to Memorial Baseball Field for a proper Team Photo Day, and these kids showed up with all the personality. Dark background, dramatic lighting, and a couple of bats as props — that's really all it takes when you're working with athletes this fun.
The Story Behind the Photos
This wasn't a quiet, line-up-and-smile kind of shoot. Once the bats came out as props, things got chaotic in the best way — broken bat included. (For the record: not mine, and the hubby handled that particular situation.) That's the fun of a Photo Day session — once a kid gets a prop in their hands and a spotlight on their face, you stop directing and just start shooting. The scream-laugh, the point-at-the-camera swagger, the "watch this" energy — that's the stuff you can't pose for, and it's exactly what makes these images feel like the kids instead of a generic team photo.
Every one of these All-Stars got their own moment in front of the lens, and honestly, some of my favorite frames of the summer came out of this session.
