Flyers Cup Quarterfinals | Ice works skating complex | March 6, 2026
Some games you photograph. Others you feel.
Friday night at IceWorks Skating Complex was the kind of hockey game that reminds you why you keep your camera ready until the very last second. The Flyers Cup Quarterfinals brought the Hershey Trojans and the West Chester Henderson Warriors together in a matchup that had everything—momentum swings, big saves, raw emotion, and a finish that came down to overtime.
The moment the story changed
Hockey is fast, but the turns are faster.
One shift you’re tracking clean zone entries and crisp passes. The next, you’re watching a bench come alive because someone just made a play that flips the entire energy of the building. That’s what made this one special: it wasn’t just the final score—it was how the Trojans kept pushing, kept believing, and kept finding a way.
Overtime doesn’t leave room for hesitation
Overtime hockey is a different sport.
The pace tightens. The stakes get louder. Every touch of the puck feels heavier, and every celebration is bigger because you know what it took to get there. When the OT goal hit, the reaction was instant—sticks up, bodies crashing together at the boards, and that pile of jerseys that tells you everything you need to know.
As a photographer, those are the frames you chase:
- The first player to the glass
- The teammate who launches into the group
- The faces you can’t fake—relief, joy, disbelief
- The split-second where the whole season feels like it’s still alive

Behind the lens: why I love shooting games like this
I’m always looking for more than “a player with the puck.” I’m looking for the moment—the emotion, the grit, the connection between teammates, and the story you’ll want to remember long after the scoreboard fades.
That’s why I shoot the way I do:
- Action that feels like you’re in it (not just watching it)
- Emotion that tells the truth—the celebrations, the heartbreak, the intensity
- Fast turnaround so you can relive it while it’s still fresh
Because these aren’t just games. They’re memories.
